On 3 December the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Belarus launched a joint production of trams in Vorsma. In accordance with the agreement reached between the Nizhny Novgorod regional government and BKM HOLDING, in September 2022 JV Nizhekotrans LLC was established. The site will serve as a production base for the implementation of the concession agreement for the modernization of electric transport infrastructure in Nizhny Novgorod in 2022-2024. To date, this programme is the largest in Russia.

The ceremony was attended by Dmitry Krutoy, Ambassador of Belarus to Russia, Alexander Rogozhnik, Minister of Industry of Belarus, Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and Albert Karimov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia.

During the ceremony, the first fully low-floor single-section tram model T811 manufactured by BKM HOLDING was presented. The car was named MiNiN, which stands for the cooperation between Minsk and Nizhny Novgorod. The exterior and interior have been developed exclusively for this region. The share of “union” configuration reaches 93%. Key components, including electrical equipment and tram bogies, were developed in-house by BKM HOLDING.

BKM HOLDING is planning to deliver to the Nizhekotrans 10 tram cars T811, 26 three-section trams T856, 20 SKD sets of tram and 114 sets of tram bogies and electric equipment.

In total, Nizhny Novgorod will receive 170 fully low-floor trams by 2024.
